Will you have more time for shopping this year?

Yes! By popular demand - from  both shoppers and vendors - we have been steadily increasing the amount of time for shopping when no speakers are scheduled. This year, we're opening 1-1/2 hours earlier on Friday - at 2:00 pm -  to accommodate the desire for more browsing and shopping time. In addition, we've rearranged the schedule to allow for much more relaxed shopping time on Friday and Saturday as well.

Will I receive a confirmation notice after I register?

You will receive a confirmation email, whether you register online or via U.S. Mail, as long as you provide an accurate email address so we can reach you. There will be no tickets sent to you; just check in at the door to receive your name badges and a folder with conference information.

Will the talks be recorded?

Yes! LCE Media - a Catholic family business - will once again record our conference talks. These are high-quality, reasonably-priced CDs with tracks that make it easy to pick up where you left off listening. Stop by their tables in Banquet Room 1 (where almost all the speakers will have their tables) to purchase CDs shortly after each talk. In addition, after the conference, we'll have a link on our website for ordering.

May I register at the door?

Yes, absolutely. Prices will be slightly higher at the door: $35 for adults and $60 for married couples. Admission for teens and children will remain the same, however. Pre-register by April 12 to save!

Do you issue refunds?

No, we're sorry, but we can't issue refunds for unused registrations. However, if you contact us, we'll be happy to consider your registration fee a tax-deductible donation, and will send you an acknowledgement for your records.

Are children welcome?

Yes! We have become known as a family-friendly conference. We believe there is a great value in inviting the entire family to a homeschool conference because it allows husbands and wives to attend together, rather than mom coming while dad is home with the kids. In addition, we've seen that over the years, the children begin to think of the conference as 'theirs', as well as their parents', with many good things coming from that.

We provide a number of children's activities and programs, a "family room" sectioned off from the main vendor area with sofas for relaxing and toys for the children to play with, and a more private area for moms and nursing babies complete with a diaper changing area.

Most of the children's programs are included with the $5 registration fee, and just one or two require a nominal fee for supplies (for example, $2 for the painting class).

However, please note that we do not provide child care! Therefore, we must ask that parents supervise their children at all times. Out of respect for the inventory of our vendors, please be sure to keep food and drink away from the vendor tables.

  • Children age 5 and under must be with a parent or responsible teen at all times, including while attending children's activities.
  • Children ages 6 - 10 must be signed in and out of programs by a parent.
  • Children ages 11 and up are free to check themselves in and out of programs unless the parent specifies otherwise.

Thank you for your cooperation so that we are able to continue offering a family friendly event!

Do you offer childcare?

No, we do not offer childcare services. We welcome children and offer a variety of programs for them, but we rely on the supervision and involvement of the parents in order to make our family-friendly conference work. Parents must be with their children ages 5 and under at all times while at the conference. Older children may be checked in and out of programs as specified above.

Is there free parking on-site?

Yes, there is free parking available in front of the conference center. If you are mistakenly asked to pay a fee at the gate, be sure to explain that you are with the GMCHE Conference at the Youth Center and parking is free. Additional parking is available on the neighborhood streets immediately surrounding State Fair Grounds.

Will lunch be available on site?

Yes, but only by pre-registration. Sub sandwich box lunches (ham, turkey, or cheese & veggie sandwich on a hoagie roll, plus chips, fruit, cookie, and bottled water) are available for $10 each.  If you'd prefer, you may bring a box lunch to eat outside on the grounds, or take a short drive down the road to nearby fast food and other restaurants.

Is the conference site wheelchair and stroller accessible?

Yes. For the most part, the conference is all on the first floor, and the entrance is accessible. There is an elevator to get to the chapel and any other events on upper floors.

We have one request if you plan to have a stroller: Please consider bringing the smallest stroller possible, such as an umbrella stroller. We're happy to welcome families, but for the comfort of all, please be conscious of the space taken up by today's ultra-mega-strollers. Thank you!

Do you need volunteers? Are volunteers eligible for reduced admission fees?

Yes, and yes! We could not put on this conference without all the cheerful givers of time and talent, and in appreciation we offer volunteers reduced admission. We need adults and teens to help with set up, clean up, registration, children's programs, speaker assistants, Adoration, and more. Volunteers receive a $5 credit toward admission for every hour worked on Friday and Saturday of the conference, up to a maximum of $20 for adults and $10 for teens. Thank you for your help!
